The Director of the Centre for Air and Space Policy (CASP) visited Universitas Islam Negeri Walisongo (Walisongo State Islamic University), Semarang, Central Java, Indonesia, on September 1, 2026. The visit aimed to build a connection, introduce CASP to the Faculty of Sharia and Law at Walisongo State Islamic University (FSH UIN Walisongo), and explore potential avenues for cooperation and collaboration on developing space law and policy in Indonesia. We believe space law and policy align with FSH UIN Walisongo's interests, as the faculty offers Falak (Islamic Astronomy) at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Students in these programmes study at the intersection of astronomy, public law, and sharia law. The Falak study programme at FSH UIN Walisongo does not offer a theory course, yet the university has supporting facilities such as a planetarium and an observatory as part of students’ learning.

We express our gratitude to FSH UIN Walisongo and the Planetarium and Observatory Unit UIN Walisongo for their gracious welcome and generous hospitality. We sincerely hope this marks the beginning of numerous future collaborations and cooperative endeavours between CASP and FSH UIN Walisongo.
