Taufik Rachmat Nugraha earned a Master of Law degree (LL.M) in 2020 from Universitas Padjadjaran Faculty of Law with a thesis titled “Protection Against Alien Biohazard Contamination in the Mars Exploration Program: An International Space Law Approach.” Additionally, Taufik is an active participant in summer schools and short courses abroad, including the 2019 International Seabed Authority (ISA) Marine Scientific Research Endowment Fund awardee at the South China Sea Institute-Xiamen University, and the International Space Law Workshop Training from APSCO/ESA/CISL 2021. 2021 Space Security Course from Institute of Air and Space Law, McGill University, 2021 Yeosu Academy of the Law of the Sea (Korean Maritime Institute), in 2023 Mr Taufik Rachmat Nugraha have a diploma (Dipl in Ocean Law and Policy) from Aegean Institute for Law of the Sea through Rhodes Academy 2023 in Rhodes Island, Greece.
Taufik Rachmat Nugraha actively engages with various international non-governmental organisations and research institutions. From 2018-2022, he served as the National Point of Contact for the Republic of Indonesia for the Space Generation Advisory Council (SGAC) based in Vienna, Austria. He is also a Space Law and Policy Working Group member within SGAC. In 2025, he was appointed a Research Fellow at the Indonesian Centre for the Law of the Sea (ICLOS) at Universitas Padjadjaran. He is a director and co-founder at the Centre for Air and Space Policy (CASP). From 2023 to 2024, Mr Nugraha was awarded an ASEAN research fellowship at the Centre for International Law at the National University of Singapore (CIL–NUS).
His research interests encompass space law and policy, space security, astropolitics, law of the sea, maritime security, and nuclear law and Policy. These interests are evident in his academic publications, which have been featured in national and international journals.
