Adhy Riadhy Arafah, CASP Deputy Director for the Aviation Policy Programme and lecturer in air law at the Faculty of Law, Universitas Airlangga, delivered a guest lecture at the Faculty of Law, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) on 22 November 2025.
The session, held at Auditorium 1 of the UiTM Faculty of Law, featured a presentation titled “The Montreal Convention 1999 and Its Application in Indonesia: A Passenger Rights Perspective.” The lecture formed part of UiTM’s Law of Carriage series and attracted students and faculty members interested in international air law and aviation liability frameworks.

During his talk, Arafah discussed the core objectives and legal mechanisms of the Montreal Convention 1999, particularly its role in modernizing international air carriage liability. He elaborated on how Indonesia applies the Convention’s principles within its national aviation regulatory structure, despite the country’s unique challenges in harmonizing domestic rules with international standards.
The lecture also highlighted key issues concerning passenger rights, including liability for delay, lost or damaged baggage, and compensation for accidents. Arafah emphasized the importance of aligning Indonesia’s regulatory practices with global norms to enhance legal certainty for passengers and strengthen the country’s aviation governance.
The event reaffirmed UiTM’s commitment to fostering academic collaboration and enriching its students’ understanding of contemporary developments in international aviation law.
