Surabaya, Indonesia — The Centre for Air and Space Policy (CASP) has officially obtained legal status under the Decree of the Minister of Law of the Republic of Indonesia No. AHU-0006610.AH.01.07.TAHUN 2025. This milestone marks a new chapter for CASP as Indonesia’s first dedicated institution focusing on interdisciplinary studies and policies related to air/aviation, space, cyber, and digital governance.
Founded in 2024 in Surabaya, CASP was established to address the growing need for research and policy development in aviation, space, and their intersections with digital and cyber technologies. The Centre brings together experts from various disciplines to explore pressing issues such as drone regulation, satellite operations, cybersecurity in aviation, and sustainable airspace management.

With its new legal standing, CASP is strengthening its role as a platform for collaboration among academia, government agencies, and the private sector. The Centre has also launched two key publications: the Acta Caeli et Astronautica (ACeA) — Journal of Air and Space Policy and the CASP Bulletin, both serving as channels for scholarly dialogue and policy innovation.
In addition to research and publication, CASP is now open for collaborative projects in the fields of research and community service, particularly in areas related to aviation and space law. The Centre also offers training programs in air/aviation law and space law, and provides legal assistance services for aviation-related activities.
According to CASP’s founders, this recognition underscores Indonesia’s growing commitment to advancing the governance of air and space activities amid the rise of new technologies and global integration.
